Kurt and Alycia Sutton Help Carlsbad Residents Finance Their Dream Home
Kurt and Alycia Sutton are the husband and wife team behind Neighborhood Lenders, a mortgage brokerage firm that offers conventional Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA and Jumbo loans and is committed to helping clients find the best possible home loan and refinancing options. “A home loan is a big financial transaction, and yet many people sign papers without understanding what they’re getting into and what they’re signing. Too often, people are intimidated to ask questions about the closing documents because the escrow officer, loan officer or notary who is helping them sign the documents is rushing through the information without much explanation. The truth is that many people in the loan business don’t fully understand the details enough to explain them to borrowers,” explained Kurt. He and Alycia started Neighborhood Lenders to ensure that their clients are well-informed and that all questions are answered before any documents are signed.
Both Kurt and Alycia bring a specialized skill set to Neighborhood Lenders. Kurt was formerly a highly acclaimed appraiser and has full access to data sources that aid in determining the anticipated appraised value of a property with precision. Alycia’s background as an underwriter, funder, operations manager, and wholesale lending account executive allows her to pre-underwrite every file before it gets to the lender. “Because we ensure each loan we send to our partner lenders is clean and ready to go, we receive preferred rates that we can offer our borrowers,” revealed Alycia.

According to Alycia, Neighborhood Lenders has hosted many first-time homebuyer and refinance clinics in the past, but she and Kurt have discovered that private consultations are the best way for clients to learn about the financing and refinancing process. “Every loan is different and every borrower is different. For example, not everyone needs to refinance even when news reports say that interest rates are low. ‘Benefit to Borrower’ is our primary concern. Our borrowers either get the best loan possible, or we wait with them until the rate is at a point where a refinance will be most beneficial,” related Alycia.
Currently, Neighborhood Lenders has two offices in Northern California, and with Kurt and Alycia’s recent move to the Carlsbad community, they are excited to help local residents buy their first home, a second home, an investment property or refinance their existing mortgage.
