Opportunities for Positive Change

Carlsbad resident Janelle Panther, founder of Pantherella Specialty Events, uses her skills in the event-planning industry to create one-of-a-kind fundraising extravaganzas for nonprofit organizations. Developing galas for such charities as Solutions for Change, Challenged Athletes Foundation, Moonlight Foundation, Just in Time, and Miracle Babies, Janelle creates opportunities for positive change. This German-born mother to two young children is grateful to have found the perfect profession that melds her joy of supporting worthy causes with her joy in throwing fabulous parties.

Janelle began working for various small nonprofit organizations and soon realized many did not know how to maximize their fundraising efforts effectively. She explained, “I saw that there was a need for people who could put on quality fundraisers to support the nonprofits’ initiatives. These organizations weren’t getting the traction they needed from donors or vendors because their events weren’t well thought out or managed. Organizing these fundraisers made me fall in love with the idea of creating unique events to help give back.”
Janelle has amassed an impressive contact base that assists her with planning and marketing fundraising parties. She exclaimed, “I love being able to get support for important causes that wouldn’t otherwise be able to have the same exposure.”

MEET JANELLE

Name: Janelle Panther
Community: Carlsbad
Family: Husband, son, daughter
Hobbies & Interests: Cooking, skiing, polo

One of the more challenging events Janelle oversaw was last year’s gala for Solutions for Change, a charity devoted to solving family homelessness. Themed “An Evening to Remember,” the fundraising reception needed to accommodate 800 guests! After an exhaustive search, Janelle finally happened upon Jet Source, which graciously donated its 40,000 square foot hangar. Janelle recalled, “The event itself took almost a year to plan, and four days of nonstop setup to transform the empty hangar into a dazzling reception and ballroom space.”

Janelle also volunteers at her son’s school, watches local Polo matches, skis, studies Spanish, and mentors college students on the intricacies of event production. She is an avid cook, and admitted, “I try to make each meal unique and memorable, and I pour all my love into every step.” At home or at work, Janelle’s heartfelt devotion always produces wonderful results.
