Carrillo Elementary will be hosting the 5th Annual Young Writer’s Camp from June 27 to July 1. The camp, sponsored by the San Marcos Writing Project at CSU San Marcos, invites students entering grades two through six to take part in a week-long workshop of writing led by Writing Project teachers. Registration fees include a notebook, t-shirt, writing materials, and all supplies necessary to create a writing portfolio. Wendy Fisher, who has been teaching and directing the camp for the past five years, shared, “Many of our students end up coming back multiple years. When students are given a choice about topics for writing, even reluctant writers find their voice.” This year’s camp will include three teachers, and author Kathleen Krull will return to share tips on writing for the second year. Registration is limited. For more information email Wendy at fisherwm@alumni.usc.edu.
