Create Delectable Desserts at The Baked Bear of La Costa

The Baked Bear is not your average ice cream shop. It is more than just getting a sweet fix; it is about getting an experience. “People get to come to the stores and create whatever they want, and in a sense it’s their own way to express themselves through delicious desserts!” exclaimed owner of the La Costa franchise, Daniel Arabi, a native San Diegan and recent graduate of University of San Diego. “It is the experience that differentiates us from the competition.”

Daniel, who worked in the biotech industry for two years before pursuing a partnership with The Baked Bear, has a passion for his newest business venture. “I realized I wanted to help grow a brand and be a part of a truly passionate team,” he shared. “We use quality ingredients. We are proud of our cookies and our recipes.”

The idea of starting The Baked Bear came from Rob Robbins and Shane Stanger – childhood friends and natives to San Diego. “Original-recipe ice cream sits at the heart of each one of Rob and Shane’s sandwiches,” states the company’s website. “The Baked Bear has over a dozen original-recipe cookies and ice cream flavors, giving guests a chance to mix and match to find their favorite combination.”

The menu at The Baked Bear consists of the expected items: cookies, ice cream, brownies, hot fudge sundaes, and root beer floats. But it also includes some unique signature items such as the customer favorite Bear Bowl, a warm chocolate chip cookie bowl with one scoop of any flavored ice cream. “We also have our signature ice cream flavor, Bear Batter, which is a blue cake batter that has brownies and fudge swirled in,” described Daniel. And of course, there is the ever-so-popular custom ice cream sandwich made with a cookie, brownie, donut, or all of the above. For an added treat, the sandwiches can be rolled through toppings ranging from Fruity Pebbles to Oreo crumbles. “A great (ice cream sandwich) combination is our chocolate chip on top with brownie on bottom,” noted Daniel. “Cookie dough or salted caramel fudge seems to be popular with locals as the ice cream choice.”

Hungry yet? You’re in luck. Not only can The Baked Bear in La Costa host your next birthday party but it is available for catering. “We can cater any type of event and the most popular have been weddings, birthday parties, and corporate events,” shared Daniel. “We want people to be excited when they come to our stores; not just because they are getting to indulge in delicious sweets, but because they are coming to a fun and inviting atmosphere.”
