Carlsbad residents were recently invited to attend a grand opening celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony for the Pine Avenue Community Center and Gardens. The celebration featured live music, crafts, games, garden demonstrations, and tours.

The new multi-generational community center’s two story, eco-friendly building features a multi-purpose gym, activity rooms, and an outdoor patio and courtyard. The gardens feature drought-tolerant landscaping, a community gathering plaza, public art featuring a willow dome, picnic areas, and a raised planter bed community garden.

For the grand opening, guests participated in various activities such as how to quick pickle garden vegetables, how to grow your own microgreens, a lady bug release, and a meeting with artist Jenna Didier.

The community garden is being managed by the nonprofit Carlsbad Community Gardens Collaborative. To learn more visit
