The Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation recently held its annual Paddle Pull and Sweep, a clean-up event of the lagoon and its surroundings, via kayak, paddle board, or shoreline stroll. The event was sponsored by Thermo Fisher Scientific, Stifel (Carlsbad), and California Watersports and was able to raise $10,000, with all proceeds going towards benefiting the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation’s educational programs.

More than 100 people were in attendance for water relays and a beach party that incorporated one of the Foundation’s most popular events, the Rubber Ducky Derby, where participants organized teams and raced rubber ducks in the lagoon. There were plenty of other games and STEM-related educational activities hosted by Thermo Fisher Scientific, as well as food, informational booths, and more. Awards were given for the most interesting pieces of trash found, which included a pair of cargo pants and a basketball hoop base.
