New Ocean Blue, a service learning program at Pacific Ridge School, recently hosted a cleanup at Carlsbad Beach. The cleanup was part of the group’s mission to promote cleaner oceans and reduce pollution, as well as providing a learning opportunity for the students involved.

In addition to service projects, students in New Ocean Blue promote environmental awareness through presentations at elementary schools in Carlsbad, San Marcos, and Vista. They teach other students about minimizing plastic consumption and pollution. New Ocean Blue is one of a number of service learning groups at the school, which also includes programs focused on domestic violence awareness, working with developmentally disabled children, STEM workshops for underserved children, animal advocacy, and more.
